What is a digital RIM lock?

Rim locks are one of the most popular options for homeowners in Singapore. Rim locks are affordable and convenient. Unlike other locks, rim locks use a bracket that is externally attached to the door frame pr panel. Rim locks are equipped with a motor attachment, hence when the locking mechanism is turned, the metal bolt will be secured across the bracket. When you turn the locking mechanism, the metal bolt is secured across the bracket. 

We usually recommend digital or smart rim locks to clients who would like to retain their existing lock handles, as rim locks can be installed above them.

What is the difference between a rim lock and a mortise lock?

The main difference between the rim and mortise locks is the tailpieces and how they fit into the lock. Mortise locks are designed with a threaded exterior whereas the stem of rim locks is smooth. Another noticeable difference between the two is that mortise locks are installed inside a door whereas rim locks are designed to be installed on the external surface of a door.
